International Lifestyle Medicine Certification process

    1. Check your eligibility and availability to complete the prerequisites 30 days prior to by the upcoming 2025 exam date of 9 November 2025, held at The Wyatt Benevolent Institution Inc., 161 Frome Street, Adelaide, Australia.
    2. Enrol for the 2025 certification exam by 8 October 2025. Once you have enrolled, follow the prompts to register for your exam date and location. The enrolment fee includes a non-refundable registration fee, certification fee, and your sitting to the in-person exam. Please note that if you do not pay, you are not registered.
    3. Complete your prerequisite 30 hours of CME from an approved online course and 20 hours of event CME (in-person or virtual).
    4. Doctors/physicians, complete your case study outlining your personal experience with lifestyle medicine (view template).
    5. Submit your prerequisite documentation by 8 October 2025 to lifestylemedicine@doctorsfornutrition.org
    6. Sit the certification exam on 9 November 2025 in Adelaide, Australia.
    7. Pass the certification exam. Exam results are usually released around December 23rd.
    8. Congratulations! Based on your category, you are now either a ‘Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician’ or a ‘Certified Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner’, both with international recognition, and a diplomate of the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine (DipIBLM).

You’ll receive your diplomate certificate shortly via postal mail.

  • Prior to 31 March 2026, sign up for the IBLM MOC (maintenance of certificate) pathway to keep your certification current and if you do not want to re-sit the exam in 10 years.

In-person exam process

Exam location: The Wyatt Benevolent Institution Inc., 161 Frome Street, Adelaide.

Exam duration: Maximum 4hrs

Exam date: 9 November 2025

Exam items/questions:

  • 150 multiple choice questions for Lifestyle Medicine physicians
  • 120 multiple choice questions for Lifestyle Medicine professionals

Format:

  • Proctored exam.
  • Exam questions are written to NBME standards

Examinees will need to bring their own laptop or tablet to sit the exam, and power cable. Power supply and excellent wifi will be available.
