Thank you for visiting our info page about COVID-19

The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and its resulting disease, COVID-19, have touched almost every country on the globe. Doctors For Nutrition recognises the strain this is placing both on healthcare professionals and the community as a whole. We thank our healthcare colleagues both in our region and around the world, and extend our compassion to all those who are affected both directly and indirectly by the wide-reaching impacts of the pandemic.

As a health-promotion charity focused on elevating the role of nutrition in disease prevention and care, Doctors For Nutrition's mission remains as vital as ever. Like everyone, we are making some adaptations in response to the virus, but are continuing our efforts undeterred.

We have put together this page to provide quick links to the latest official updates and advise how we as an organisation are adapting our operations to the unfolding situation.

This page will be reviewed and kept updated regularly. As always, we’ll also be communicating via social media and email. Please do stay connected with us through these channels. We also encourage you to read our blog post about Nutrition in the time of COVID-19.

DFN activities and events

Our daily operations

As our charity staff members are a small dispersed team working remotely, our day-to-day operations are continuing as normal and we are not anticipating any disruptions to our projects and services, except in relation to in-person meetings and events.

Public events

For the near term, we have put all planned in-person events on hold.

  • DFN-hosted events: where possible we will hold events digitally so that participants can attend remotely.

  • Guest appearances: for the time being we will not send representatives to appear at other in-person public events.

  • Speakers' Bureau: our expert speakers can still be booked for events in the latter part of 2020 or for online events, bearing in mind some of our Advisory Council will of course be diverted in the near term in response to COVID-19.

  • Nutrition in Healthcare Conference: In light of current and foreseeable disruptions to in-person events, we have made the decision to postpone our 2021 Australasian Nutrition in Healthcare Conference to 18-20 February 2022. We are delighted that Team Sherzai are confirmed to join us then in Melbourne.

Meetings

DFN will be keeping in-person meetings under review and exercising caution. This will result in changes to some of our activities, which may be either postponed or, where possible, conducted via teleconferencing rather than face to face.

Keep up with the latest DFN news, events, opportunities and more
