Frequently Asked Questions

Our challenge is on-demand, meaning you can start whenever you’re ready. There’s no start date, and you can move through the content at your own pace based on your schedule and goals.

You will receive progress emails starting from the time you first access or purchase the challenge however, you’re free to start the challenge whenever it suits you. While you’re welcome to complete the challenge multiple times, the email journey will only be sent during your first attempt.

This challenge is designed for anyone who isn’t yet eating fully whole food plant-based and wants to dive right in for a full 21 days of immersion – the challenge runs for one month and includes an initial week for preparation. Whether you’re new to plant-based eating or have some experience, you’ll find resources that cater to all levels.

The challenge offers a range of resources to access from the comfort of your home, in a time that suits you. These include video lessons, text lessons, downloads and cooking demonstrations. If you have questions, you can contact our DFN team for assistance, or ask questions directly within the challenge of the instructors.

DFN members will have lifetime access to the challenge materials for as long as they remain members after purchasing the challenge. Non-members will have access for 12 months from the date of purchase. Within these timeframes, you can revisit the content as often as you like, whenever it suits you.

Within the challenge, we link to various websites with suitable recipes and provide access to the DFN cookbook and meal plan. However, we also teach you how to plan meals and eat without using recipes, as we find that when people learn how to do this, they are able to stick to this lifestyle with ease, especially in busy times.

No special equipment is required. The recipes use common kitchen tools, and ingredients can be found at most grocery stores. We’ll guide you on pantry staples to keep on hand for easy meal prep.

The challenge features recipes and meals free of dairy, meat, eggs, and all animal products. Many of the recipes are also gluten-free and can be adapted to be soy and nut free if needed. Further, you are not following a set meal plan. We teach you how to assemble your own whole food plant-based meals, and you can change ingredients for other whole plant foods as desired.

While this challenge is focused on overall health and wellbeing, many participants carrying excess weight do experience weight loss as a natural result of adopting a whole food plant-based lifestyle. The emphasis is on nutrient-dense foods that support long-term health, rather than calorie restriction.
