Dr Martyn Williamson
Martyn moved to New Zealand from the UK in 1986. He spent 35 years in rural general practice, mixing this with a teaching and research role at Dunedin School of Medicine. Martyn was jointly nominated Plant-Based Practitioner of the Year for 2019 along with his wife, and in 2020 he obtained an International Certification in Lifestyle Medicine. He is committed to raising awareness about the power of whole food plant-based nutrition and the other pillars of lifestyle medicine to revitalise health and to treat disease.
Martyn recently retired to facilitate a 6-month cycle tour in Europe and the UK. While acknowledging the challenges of eating WFPB foods while travelling, Martyn remains committed to WFPB nutrition as a major pillar of lifestyle change to reverse or cure chronic disease and enjoys presenting on the topic. He likes to stay up-to-date with recent research, and he and his wife share their lifestyle knowledge regularly with New Zealand audiences.
